Polish is considered to be one of the difficult languages to learn. But in fact, it hugely depends on how good is your teach. You need the one who will keep your motivation up, who will make the entire learning process being fun, and who will support you in moments when you are about to give up. We are two English people, who attended a two week course in a language school in Warsaw last year.

The course was designed specifically for our purposes. There were two teachers, one of whom was Julitta Poluch.

Julitta took care to check our levels at the beginning of the course. The

Julitta's lessons used a variety of teaching and learning styles, ranging from

I first met Julitta mid October 2012. At that time, I was just starting to work as an assistant professor at the Informatics Institute of the University of Warsaw, and I wanted to enhance my (poor) language skills in Polish. Following the advice of a friend of mine, working for the Austrian Institute in Warsaw, I thence contacted Academia Polonica. I asked the owner of the school for private classes or classes with very few students, strongly underlying the fact

that for me it would have been very important to quickly have a good familiarity with Polish language, a condition sine qua non to make an academic career in Poland. She immediately suggested me Julitta as tutor.

I will always be thankful for such a choice. In addition of being a charming personality, for almost two years Julitta has been a wonderful teacher, by far better than all the tutors I had in 2010 when, as a post-doc, I was attending classes at Polonicum, the Centre of Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners of the University of Warsaw. Each lesson was very well crafted: never boring or banal, always surprising, stimulating and extremely comprehensible.

On top of that, her enthusiasm was always so overwhelming that even after a very long day of work, attending a language class was becoming a real pleasure.

W ubiegłym roku brałem udział w kursie języka polskiego „Poza klasą”, prowadzonym przez Julittę Poluch. Bardzo spodobał mi się sposób w jaki zostały zorganizowane nasze zajęcia. Większość lekcji odbywała się poza klasą i to był naprawdę świetny pomysł.       Yes, I do agree – Polish language is difficult ;) – but don’t worry, with my help you’ll learn to speak Polish real quick! I’m against rigid program of  lessons and involving only course book. I’m trying to adjust the topics of my lessons to individual needs of each of my students and create the best learning opportunities for them. In my opinion learning must be a pleasure, that’s why my lessons are a fusion of entertainment and education. Language games help to create a relaxing atmosphere. When we treat lesson as a play – stress is disappears very quickly and we gain confidence when it comes to real situation in which we can use new vocabulary. Success and progress of my students in learning Polish are very important for me. I’m demanding teacher and I’m motivating students to constantly broaden their vocabulary. Warning! I watch over homework ! ;)

       I’m not a fan of routine, during my lessons I use various teaching methods, including discussion, working on authentic texts, role playing, story-telling, phone calls, presentations, posters making, board games, writing own texts (letters, SMS, reviews, reportage, narratives, tales). I also use video camera, films, music and sound files.

       I really enjoy practical outdoor classes, when students get a chance to use learned vocabulary and take an assessment in authentic everyday situation. I love shopping together at a street market or a small boutique, going out to a cinema, theatre or museum. I put emphasis on practical use of the language. It’s very import that my students feel confident and comfortable speaking Polish in divers everyday situations. I really care if they understand Polish culture, therefore I’m trying to help them to avoid falling into the trap of cultural differences. I also give them a taste of intricate Polish slang.

        Julitta Poluch holds a master’s degree in Polish Studies from the University of Białystok. She is also a graduate of the Laboratory of Reportage of the University of Warsaw. *The cultural course is intended for students at minimum the A2 level. The course includes 3 practical lessons: in museum, theatre and cinema. Tickets to theatre, museum and cinema are included in price.

** The business course id intended for students at minimum the A2 level. The course book „O biznesie po polsku” is included in price.

*** The intensive course (lessons minimum 3 days in week).

All fees must be paid before the course is due to start. Long course (30 lessons) must be used within 10 months from the date of the purchase.

Students are allowed to cancel one-to-one lesson minimum 24 hours before the appointed time, in case of the late cancellation student is obligated to cover the cost of the lesson. In case of teacher’s late cancellation – the teacher is obliged to provide gratuitous lesson.

In principle, there can be no claim for the refund of fees in case of a student’s late arrival or non-attendance to take up services booked with the teacher. Lesson can’t be sustain in case of the late arrival.
